The Peconic Puffin

A blog about a group of windsurfers and other water sports enthusiasts, and their friends. Established 1993.

Web_cam_twin_sailsEver since I learned of the Meschutt cam I’ve wanted to see if it would capture an east end session in that corner of the Great Peconic. The trick was how to both sail AND capture the images. But thanks to the miracle of a tweaked foot I was free to sit with my laptop and look for friends while it was blowing NNW.
It didn’t take long before windsurfing was sighted.

That’s Jon Ford is on a 5.4, and the Wolf is on 4.7. A closeup it ain’t, but what do you want for free and live?

(The Meschutt Cam is good to check any time you want to know if the Peconic Bays are capping on northerlies. I’ve always got a mini live feed of it in the right hand column of the Puffin. And if you don’t know where Meschutt is, you can find it along with dozens of other Long Island windsurfing launches on the Long Island Windsurfing Map.)

Hi pegleg – hows it going? Any better? Wish there was someone who could sit and take photos of us when we are down. Unfortunately its either me giving up my surf time or nothing at all!
