Union square park, election night

It's one o'clock in the morning in New York City…two hours since Barack Obama was declared President-elect.   Near Union Square the noise level of people celebrating dwarfs midnight on New Year's Eve.   People are cheering, cars are honking, and this has been going on for hours.   I walked outside awhile ago and the streets were a sea of exuberance.

It's an amazing moment.

I’m crying in my beer…sake. How come no one voted for Bob? However all is not lost, at least the new guy is a surfer (the stickless kind) and is from Hawaii.

My little piece of Brooklyn, it sounded like the Giants had won the Super Bowl and the Yankees had won the World Series ON THE SAME NIGHT.
Looking forward to the change of command.

I was out at the Gulfstream Racetrack where many people of color in Broward county went to wait out the counting on election eve…when the announcement was made that Obama had won, everyone yelled with joy, people kissed and hugged strangers!
