The Peconic Puffin

A blog about a group of windsurfers and other water sports enthusiasts, and their friends. Established 1993.

Loopa Loopb Ely of the Yahoo Long Island Windsurfers Forum recently posted the following loop video (who he credits to his friend Darryl in Maui).   Describing itself as a Loop DVD trailer, it’s a loose, fun collection of loops and loop drills…plus all of two and a half seconds of a loop simulator (go to 2:34 if you’re in a rush.)  Perhaps they’re saving a full explanation of the simulator for the DVD.  In any event  I’m intrigued.  I was going to type “I’ll try anything” but as anyone who has tried forward loops knows, the trying is trying.  Scarifying and whatnot.   So I can use any and all steps to get me closer.  I must try to figure out how to rig this up:

Nice video….but you really should use a custom sizing when embedding videos. The width should be 465.

You’re right Joe…that was sloppy on my part. I don’t always remember to resize.
Now if you could just reduce the loading time of your blog heh heh heh…

Great video, just found a new life for my vulcan simulator gathering dust in the garage. Not sure, but is the line from the ceiling attached to the balance point on opposite boom side?

Michael, Great video to help get juiced for the season. Is that the full-size image of the simulator? Can’t really see how the lines are tied?

That’s what it looks like to me, Mike. So the board gets air by lifting on the footstraps.

i especially like the loops on flat water using the nose as a pole vault. i hope to get good enough to hope to do this on the lake. have a good weekend guys.

OK look, I know I don’t know anything about windsurfing, but the front loop looks an awful lot like falling down a flight of stairs.
Couln’t you just use any open stairwell as a simulator?
