The worst summer in windsurfing history (well, Long Island windsurfing history in the opinion of both this idiot blog and The Mighty Mike Burns) is starting to show signs of relief. Caught a 6.2 session last weekend at Mecox…jibing, duck jibing, upwind 360’s were the order of the day. Little bit of duck jibe above.

Wind!!!!! Glorious wind!!!!!! Glad you got some Michael. I even managed to get a surprise 5.2 ssh at the training grounds a couple days ago. More wind tomorrow at Heckscher! Good times are back!!

Take care when windsurfing/bathing in enclosed ponds on Long Island. Mill Pond in Watermill, which drains in to Mecox Bay, has tested positive for blue-green algae, aka toxic cyanobacteria. I don’t believe Mecox has been ocean-flushed since Spring, due to the ongoing drought. (Editors note: Jon Ford reports that Mecox was flushed in the last week. Still, it’s good to be mindful to not chug any of the bays this summer.)
