Windsurfing Hawaii R.I.P. ?

WshI was poking around in the Boards windsurfing forum when I read that WSH had gone “tits up” (Cindy, cover the girls’ eyes!) which is apparently British for “out of business” (flat on your back dead, literally.)

Windsurfing Hawaii was the first accessories brand I encountered. Before Da Kine, even. Always loved the logo.

It’s not clear whether WSH is still drawing breath, but in any event, Chinook has pretty much displaced them. I will cherish the WSH mast base that rigs my 7.0, but the late model Power Taper boom that’s been gathering dust (I’ve switched to Fiberspar) will be sold at the next swap meet. 4girlsonbeachspringbre0500000n

    The WSH brand is/was owned by the KA Sails importer Jurg Schnorf. It is up in the air whether or not that company will continue selling accessories under the WSH brand, but I have heard that a new line of hardware is in the works that was to be built in the US.
    The remaining US stock of WSH booms and hardware are sold by windsurfdeal.com – the booms are good quality and are manufactured by Autima in Taiwan and are identical to Gulftech, Epic, Gun Sails etc. and built in the same facility as big name brand booms.

    So you’re saying that the position of the tits is uncertain. Okay, we shall stand by. How are those KA Sails treating you?

    Yep, upon furter investigation, there seems to be a rift between the Monsieur l’Importeur and whatever other stakeholders WSH has. However, there IS a line of new, US made hardware in the works.
    KAs are just like any other sail, just better..
