Andy Brandt Says “Shove It”

Andy Brandt shows us how it’s done, in Key West. This photo graced the cover of the Key West Citizen last Friday. In an exclusive interview with the Peconic Puffin during which the merits of Long Island winds vs Key West winds were debated, Andy wrapped it up with “I am sailing in lycra, and you are not.”

Andy teaches the shove-it, and everything else from uphauling to double-backwinded leopard loops (reportedly clew-first!) at his ABK windsurfing instructional clinics.

    Andy threw a shove-it right in front of me in Hatteras two weeks ago, which inspired me to try a couple. It’s an easier move than it looks, and works better on your non-jumping side.
    I’m glad to see windsurfing get this kind of media exposure — any news with the “Outside” magazine feature?

    MIke Burns is the premiere freestyler on Long Island, no doubt. Possibly the best on the east coast. He’s also generous with advice and how-to for the moves he throws.
    Thanks for the kind words about the Puffin…we try not to screw it up too badly!
