Hatteras, Nerves, and the Kooks of Hazard

The best distillation of Cape Hatteras that I’ve even known is found in two videotapes made in the 1990’s by  the Hatteras artist (and most excellent windsurfer) Mark Skelton.   They are titled "Kooks of Hazard", and "Kooks of Hazard Part Two".

They are unlike other windsurfing videos.

Below is an excerpt from The Kooks of Hazard Part Two.   Set to the song "Nerves" by Possum Dixon, it’s a taste of Hatteras when the waves are bigger and the winds stronger than is good for your health.

    Definitely a classic! The good ole days before kiteboarding when all the local crew windsurfed here! Ty always ruled on those back loops!

    Wow, good stuff. I wish I was into this 15 or 20? years ago? Wait, I was! but that was with a longboard in Tampa. Now I am back into shorrt baording and in Raligh and hope to get to the coast sometimes. I am ready for some small waves, and in a few years hope to to make a 2010 version of the same video.
