Subject:  Water temps

(turn on your Ahnold Schwarzenegger text readers please.   Thank you.)

Gentlemen, you are girlymen!  Whining about the water because it is a little cool:
“icy 48 degree",
“45 degree water is tough"

You do not know what cold is!   The Long Island windsurfer is sailing in 38 degrees.   We look forward to 45 degrees…that will be balmy!

We real men like the air above 30 degrees, and no floating ice in the water (though we’ve sailed through slush.)  Give me a drysuit and dermatone, and if it splashes, I’ll shred on it!

You are girlymen, I say!
(Yo guys…I’m still looking forward to sailing with you fellas down OBX way in April!)

Yea, I had to break down a buy a cap this year, but have only worn it once!
Great stuff! Looking for forward to sailing with you all later this spring on the OBX. No drysuits or dermatone needed!

Hey man, I used to sail in Vermont! Now that was cold, and, the main reason I moved to Hatteras! I remember watching Maui based videos of people sailing 4.5s in trunks, sun shining, blue water… I couldn’t understand, since VT only blew like that when it was overcast, rainy, 40 degrees, ice chunks floating by, etc… Thanks for reminding me of the good ol’ days, and, how good I’ve got it now (I never take it for granted!!!)
    🙂 See ya soon!!

The “Wolf” as he is commonly called among the windsurf community out on the east end of LI is among the most dedicated wind chimps I have ever come across, from the neck up he looks his age, but from the neck down, and this includes his heart, he sails and acts like he is sixteen… he is also a charter member of “ELIWCA”(Eastern Long Island Wind Chimp Association) If the is a hint of wind or swell, rest assured the “Pup” will be all over it! Rip on! Luv Chimples !!!

I should have guessed! This is an exciting development. I have known about the existence of the Wind Chimps, but not their identities. (Peconic Puffins readily identify themselves.) You speak the truth about the Wolf…I’ve sailed with him perhaps 67-80 times…just last Saturday was the first time I spent more time on the water than him, and he has me by more than 20 years.
