It's been over three weeks since we've had a good day of wind. There have been a few moments where if you were in the right place at the right time (I was not) you got it for an hour or two, but a righteous session on sails other than our largest is way past due on Long Island.

I had a great time on Sunday at West Meadow beach. The wind was blowing form SSW with gust s up to 25mph. The wind was a bit gusty and sometimes patchy but I was well overpowered and did not care very much at the end. Better than nothing!

Whoever says planing in 16 knots is “early” probably says 11 am is “dawn patrol”. 😛
In my book, it’s not early planing unless it’s in 12 knots or less. -
Cute sign..winds have subsided down here..May and June were kick ass months in Bonaire..wow…

James, I agree. Hence the “tear it up” bit. My own wind minimum to plane and be able to jibe (ie the board accellerates as I bear off) is 14 knots, sailing a 7.0) Folks on bigger gear can do better, but that’s when I switch to nonplaning freestyle.
