The Peconic Puffin

A blog about a group of windsurfers and other water sports enthusiasts, and their friends. Established 1993.

Haiti and the Haitians are in a world of hurt.  I fantasize about being a doctor and joining Doctors Without Borders, or flying a helicopter for the Red Cross, or doing some other heroic thing to help.  But those aren't my skills.   The Red Cross says what they need are donations to "The International Response Fund" so it was a no-brainer to do that.  I found the phone to be faster than the website.  Here's their contact info:

Red Cross website:  https://american.redcross.org/
Phone: 1-800-RED CROSS  (1-800-435-7669)

I also mentioned Doctors without Borders:

Phone: 1-888-392-0392

They need all the help they can get. The poor Haitians seem to get some sort of disaster every year……and we are living in the lap of luxury concerned when our next windy day is! Why is life so unbalanced?? Questions that have no answer.

Hey guys, why no go surfing to Haiti? The conditions are great, and they need a new image more than emergency aid (I’m in the diplomacy/aid business, but also a windsurfer). Somebody should really find a great site and write about it to create some tourism ideas for the future. Best, HS
