Twas nearly a year ago that about a dozen bloggers interested in all manner of watercraft convened for introductions, conversation and beer at the venerable Ear Bar in downtown New York City. Last Friday night a subset of that bash returned to the Ear, where we discussed the sacred (clean oceans) the profane (Coney Island whitefish) and our blogs, and we all generally had a grand time. In attendance: Frogma’s Bonnie, Bowsprite’s Christina, Tugster’s Will, and your editor. (Adam of Messing About in Boats) was a co-conspirator who had to drop out at the last moment.) Pix below…
(Photos from the top: Tugster Will, Bowsprite Christina, the editor and Frogma Bonnie shout out two great waterblogs far far away, Proper Course and The Horse’s Mouth, Christina and Will disagree on the size of Coney Island waterfauna seen on the beach, the editor will tell his shark story to anyone who’ll listen, Bonnie’s drawing of the shark chasing me, and my iPhone’s trippy low light shot of Bonnie, who took all the rest of the photos but the top one.)

I’m going to have to come to one of these boating blogger meet-ups some time. I’m a bit out of the mainstream up here in sunny (icy) Rhode Island. But maybe one of these days I’ll get to NYC or San Francisco which seem to be the most popular hangouts for the best boating bloggers these days.

As these fotos demonstrate, some weighty and sizeable issues were discussed and sorted out. The world will henceforth be a changed and better place. Tillerman … we look forward to meeting you soon.

Note for Tillerman…
Did I mention that the Sailing Committee of the Sebago Canoe Club is having our Second Annual Laser regatta on May 22nd?
🙂 -
Laser!!!!!! Bonnie, NOOOOOOOOO! How about a Swedish Sailing Canoe or a Ulua, but not a Laser. You are a canoe club?
Thanks for the sign guys. I hope you had some Manhattans. Cheers, Horse Joe. -
Lord Tillerman, if you can make it to the city, we’ll whip up a gathering. Same for you, Joe…perhaps an intervention before she sails that Laser?
-
Oh, don’t worry, Joe, I won’t be sailing a laser. I’ll just be on the race committee.
Hmm.
Is that better, or worse? -
race committee……shoot me.

Sounds like you all had a ball to me. There should be a sailing bloggers convention organised some time – that would be interesting!
