The Peconic Puffin

A blog about a group of windsurfers and other water sports enthusiasts, and their friends. Established 1993.

Stevemichaelicecream When air temps are above 90. a scoop of ice cream placed on the head of a windsurfer can provide a number of beneficent effects:

-the cooling and refreshing effects encourage precise rigging of the sail you were going to junk rig,

-the stigma of falling off your board in light summer winds is mitigated by the prospect of relief from the milky sugar drip into your eyes,

-it provides a humorous reminder of what falling in winter waters was like, and will be again.

The original Ice Cream Test was used to emphasize the fact that lesser windsurfers (such as myself) do not need napkins with our mid-session lunch.  The falls take care of everything.

Think 90 is hot try 115! Here in Bahrain the air and water are so hot sailing at night becomes your best option, then its only 100!

Chris, I don’t think 90 is hot. I think 102 is, though, and that’s what we had yesterday. Still, 115 is hotter. I’d think body drags would be popular! Meanwhile you’re blog says you’re in Maui. That must be no fun at all.
    Oh wait…I meant the opposite…
