One of the serendipitous wonders of Facebook is discovering connections between your friends that you didn't know existed.   Last week when I posted a photo from a sesh at Ponquogue with Jonathan Ford, a former employee named Kelly piped in:  "Hilarious. I went to high school in Hong Kong with Jon Ford. He was legendary for running out of class to hit the waves whenever a typhoon was coming!"

That sounds about right for Jon.  It also helps explain why, in 1996 when I had a used 4.7 shipped to my office, Kelly asked me to unroll it on the floor so she could see (if you think a 4.7 is a small sail, try laying one out in office space.)

But I digress.  Jon skipped class for conditions.  Don't tell Nicholas!
