As seen on my iPhone this morning:

PhotoI missed the fun this weekend.  I am a sad face.

🙁

Soon I will unretire an old 5.5 hiding in the back of the barn, to replace my dearly departed 5.3.  Soon.   Then I hope to SUP-sail at Ponquogue.  It's the answer to everything!

Messy but fun 2-3 footers. Little breeze. Fun. SUP, not SUP sailing, was the answer.

The question is when do you switch up/down from SUP to SUP sailing and from SUP sailing down/up … well, vice versa?
Still trying to figure out here how much wind and waves is too little — or too much— SUP sail in …

10 kts is the cutoff for me. Less than 10 – surf or SUP (unless totally flat, then OC1 or kayak, freediving/snorkeling). 10-20, longboard windsurf/SUP sail or “regular sail” (i.e. a sailboat). 15 kts and I’ll start to consider “proper windsurfing”. Geez I have a lot of toys.

Once it’s blowing 16 I can plane with my 6.2 wave sail, and that’s what I’m up to.
