That's right, windsurfing. You wanna fly a kite in 40 knot gusts that's your business. Thus spake NOAA:

Hiya: I was thinking of introducing my son
(12) to windsurfing. A friend of mine in
Costa Rica suggested Hatteras is a good
place to learn as it is only 8 hrs from where
we live. Any suggestions on the best
place to learn? Brian -
Hatteras is a very good place to learn. The best possible place is most likely Bonaire. In either case, proper instruction is key. I strongly recommend getting your son to an ABK clinic (in Hatteras or Bonaire or wherever else is convenient to you.) If that’s not possible, then local lessons in Hatteras would be a good choice. Where do you live?

Thank you. We live in Jonesborough TN, which is about 8 plus hours
away. So there are ABK credited places in Hatteras? Brian -
ABK Boardsports will be in Hatteras in May and October. Check out their schedule here: https://www.abkboardsports.com/camps If you can’t make any of their camps, contact Ocean Air Sports there and ask for Mike Burns. Mike will point you in the best direction there.
