The Peconic Puffin

A blog about a group of windsurfers and other water sports enthusiasts, and their friends. Established 1993.

Text received from Chimply Lord Scotworth, the Earl of Kielt:

“Just saw forecast for Friday.  Arthur expected to be @75 miles offshore of us!!!  Let’s hope it holds, could be epic.”

The Editor in Chief of The Peconic Puffin responded “I’ll alert the media.”

This puzzled Lord Scotworth.  Understandably.  We were trying to be funny, and as regular readers know, we aren’t very good at it.  Here is the reference, from the movie Arthur:

Let’s hope for some wind and waves!

Scott needs it baaaaaad. Sadly, I had to issue him a skunk alert, as the Hurricane Center is only giving us a 5% chance for 50kt winds. http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/storm_graphics/AT01/refresh/AL0114_PROB50_F120+gif/174638.gif

Fear not, the wind sacrifice guarantees you the conditions.

We don’t want 50 knot winds (58 mph)! We want 25 mph winds. Christian, your sacrifice will be duly noted. Enjoy the chocolate in Herseytown.

well 30-40 would be nice…just saying.

In my opinion anything over 30 reduces the fun. Just give me 4.7 conditions! (just give me 4.7. Heck I’ll rig the 7.5…I want to go windsurfing!)

I’ve got a 2.9 NP for anyone wanting to ride the storm on Cape Cod .
